Portfolio - Milan Finnie

Hi, Spotify! I'm Milan. I am a colorful creative who is most motivated by community connection and innovative solutions. With an educational background in design and a personal background in the arts, my creativity, curiosity and commitment are strengths that I enjoy contributing to a team. Feel free to have a look at a few of my projects below.

Xpressing Your Legacy

Role: Event Organizer

Xpressing Your Legacy was an opportunity for collaboration between the San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art, the San Diego History Center, and Black Xpression. To bring a more diverse audience to the museum space, and encourage fine art community members to invest in local arts, I proposed merging audiences. Since this event, SDAAMFA and Black Xpression have continued to use their relationship to strengthen the art community in San Diego.

Palo Alto Networks

Role: Project Leader & Artist

This mural project was in response to the feelings around being black in America in 2020. It was completed in collaboration with the Imperial Beach People's Alliance, State Farm of Imperial Beach, the Imperial Beach Arts Bureau, and many volunteers. I was asked to be the artist behind the project, coming up with the design concept and managing the budget, schedule, and volunteers. Each of the collaborator's requests were fulfilled. The mural was featured on CBS 8 and in local San Diego Newspapers. It continues to generate necessary conversations about racism.

Role: Graphic Design, Paint, Content Curation

Palo Alto Networks (PAN), a cyber security company, outsourced Tre Borden /Co to develop PRIDE centered content for their inward and outward facing social media platforms. We used graphics and videos to represent data, research, and employee experiences. This campaign represented PAN's LGBTQIA+ employees and inclusive culture. After the projects conclusion, PAN expressed how pleased they were with the non-conventional graphics we developed, which differ from graphics typically seen on social media during PRIDE.

Tre Borden / Co Portfolio

Role: Publication Design

Tre Borden /Co works at the intersection of visual art, technology and community engagement to produce creative projects that push for progressive social change. The interior portfolio needed a redesign to represent the thoughtful and impactful projects completed by Tre Borden /Co. I gave each artist a page and arranged the text with plenty of breathing room. CEO, Tre Borden, continues to use this portfolio when submitting for interior projects.

Kevin Land Band

Role: Graphic Design, Paint, Content Curation

Kevin Land Band has released a project every month during 2021. The band's September 14th release will feature music inspired by current events and pressures. This visuals for the album cover were inspired by the psychedelic outro of the first track on the project, "LOTL."

Kevin Land and his Band are excited to release this final project of the series.
